"Modernization" classics today is a fairly common and fashionable trend. Hearing familiar and favorite classic things in the updated version is not difficult: they sound everywhere. However, such activity causes a lot of controversy.

True connoisseurs of academic music believe that the great creations of the past are inviolable, and you should not experiment with them in any way. And, as it were, apologizing for a tautology, they argue: "Classics should remain classics, for that it is a classic!" The phenomenon is exemplary, which means that the variant is single, and that's it.

But a good half of music lovers support this fashionable trend. After all, well-known, and sometimes completely unknown works of the distant past, making a journey through the centuries, “fit” in a natural way into modern culture, acquiring a new, rich in bright colors, life. Whether classical pieces sound in the performance of a new musical instrument, or in a rather bold arrangement, or in general, in rock processing - and it’s good that they sound! Popularize the classics can and should be. This is a great way to introduce it to the younger generation, while maintaining the traditions of previous centuries.

What is your opinion on this? Are such classic experiments worthy of attention? We listen, compare, draw conclusions.
